wondering if anybody has any experience
sharing midi data between computers over a network?
i want to connect my mac ( used to control video )
to a friends PC ( used to control audio )
and have our parameters effect each other...
am sure there must be some way of sharing midi
without having to have a piece or two of midi hardware between us?
any ideas?
ciao from oz

Re: midi via ethernet?
Tue, April 13, 2004 - 9:43 AMI played around with ResRocket back in the 90s which did exactly this but I haven't heard of any replacement services since. Funny enough I was asking the same question of someone a few days ago. It seems that ResRocket fell apart primarily over IP quibbling - hard to to have a jam when people were more worried about having their licks being stolen.
There doesn't seem to be any major technical obstacle (a quick google reveals a couple of student projects) - have you looked into Max/MSP groups?
Cheers,
